6/17/2023 0 Comments Drill guideThe basic fence comes with rods with a capacity of 178mm (7"). ![]() The base is drilled and tapped for the fence guide rods on all four edges, so there's always a direction you can extend the fence. When you're working on a narrow edge, position the fence so the broad face provides extra support and when you're not using the fence at all, turn it so the thin edge provides an "outrigger" to improve stability. As shown in the photos above, the fence can slide under the base for working close to an edge, or turn it around to get the maximum distance. The versatile fence adjusts to the base along a pair of steel guide rods. Woodpeckers machined the Allen head wrench to install the pins onto the bottom of the column caps meaning you’ll never have to go searching for the right sized Allen wrench. The centring pins store conveniently right on the top of the base when they’re not in use. It works on stock up to 79mm (3-1/8") wide. When you need holes centred on a board, the guide comes with centring pins in the base, rotate until one pin is tight against each side of the stock. When you need to drill holes larger than 19mm (3/4"), simply remove the column caps, turn the chuck carrier around so it is outside the base and drill up to 50mm (2") holes. ![]() The opening in the base has clearance for drills up to 19mm (3/4"). There is also a vee-groove milled into the base to safely drill round stock. All you need to do is align the bright white index marks with the marks on your stock for precise hole location. The base of the guide has laser engraved centre-lines on the perimeter of the opening. The stop needs only fingertip pressure to hold position making it nearly impossible to knock the stop out of position when the lock is tightened onto the taper. The stop collar column has a taper milled into it. One column has a spring to help you control your cut and the other has an adjustable stop collar.
